When Stars Fall into the River

Lyrics-Composition-Production, August 2024

“When Stars Fall into the River” is something I wrote when I just landed in NYC, overwhelmed by this Metropolitan city. Reflecting on my homesickness, I wrote this llulaby for adults to give myself and my audience a calming space. To admit I was lost, but there is always hope.

Stars of the sky have faded

Fret not, child, just go to sleep

An embrace from mother

Is a dream built by a child

Stars of the sky have dimmed

Fret not, child

For mother is here

Even though mother isn’t here

Listen, boundless light from the moon

Listen, breathless quiet of city

Listen, morrow’s hazy sunlight

There’s hope in life

Stars of the sky have ebbed

Fret not, child

Close your eyes, wearied child

Steadily, a swallow she become
